Highly Integrated USB-to-SATA Storage Interface Controllers - SPIF301/302/303

SunplusIT announced a new series of USB-to-SATA storage interface controllers, SPIF301/302/303. The SPIF30x controllers are integrated with LDO regulators, built in the LED control circuitry for signaling HDD access status in attractive patterns and implemented with enhanced power-saving control functions. The EMI performance of SPIF30x has been improved significantly which makes the new series controllers to be the most competitive solution for miniature cost-effective USB HDD enclosure design. Same as their predecessor controllers, SPIF215/225, SPIF30x have been qualified to have the best USB host and SATA HDD compatibility.

SPIF301 provides the basic USB-to-SATA interface control features with data transfer performance up to 39MB/s at read operation and supports ODD device emulation mode.

SPIF302 has more add-on values than SPIF301 that it is implemented with advanced power saving technique to force HDD into standby mode if PC/NB user hasn't access the USB HDD data for a while. It also provides the intelligent LED control for signaling the HDD access status in more attractive lightening patterns. With optimized floor planning and pin-assignment, SPIF302 makes it much easier for HDD enclosure makers to achieve 2-layer PCB design without sacrificing the EMI performance.

SPIF303 is implemented with SPI Flash interface to give system makers the flexibility of developing their own firmware code for adding up unique product features with minimal cost increase. A programming guide for controlling the versatile interfaces, GPIO, I2C, USB, and SATA, will be provided by SunplusIT to help customers to achieve the firmware develop-ment easily.
